Guide combs are the part that decides the haircut, and they are also the part that disappears. A replacement set from the machine’s own maker is the one that clips properly, which matters more than it sounds: a comb that unclips mid-pass leaves a step you then chase across the whole head.

What this set does not do is go below 3 mm (0.12 in). That is normal — the shortest lengths are set on the machine itself — but it is worth knowing before ordering if a very short blend is what you are after.

Why does the set stop at 3 mm (0.12 in)?

Because the set is built for working lengths. Shorter guards do exist — Wahl’s #½ is 1.5 mm (1/16 in) — but they are not part of this set. Below that, many clippers set the length with a lever on the blade, or you cut with no guard at all.
