Braun AIO7565 review

Thirteen pieces covering beard, ear and nose, hair and body, with lengths from 0.1 to 21 mm (0.004 to 0.83 in), the ProBlade and AutoSense from Braun's beard range, SkinGuard for sensitive areas, and an AquaGrip body rated for the shower.

Where it leaves us The kit that cuts shortest, at 0.1 mm (0.004 in), and works in the shower; the Philips MG7962 has more pieces and lengths but publishes no runtime.

Thirteen pieces, fourteen lengths from 0.1 to 21 mm (0.004 to 0.83 in), and the two technologies from Braun’s top beard trimmer: the ProBlade and AutoSense, which adapts to beard density.

The shortest setting is the specification worth noticing. At 0.1 mm (0.004 in) this kit reaches effectively bare skin with its precision head, which for many can stand in for a separate shaver alongside it — the gap most all-in-one kits leave open.

The rest is built around the shower: SkinGuard for sensitive areas, an AquaGrip handle, a body Braun states is 100% waterproof, and 120 minutes of cordless runtime. No charge time is published, and at $165 this is the dearest of the four multigroomers here — all four publish a price, so that comparison at least is readable.

What the extra money buys is narrower than the piece count suggests. Against the other three, two figures are genuinely alone here: a range that starts at 0.1 mm (0.004 in) where they start at 0.5 or 3 mm (0.12 in), and the shower rating. The runtime is the longest of the four as well — 120 minutes against 90 for the Philips MG3946 at $59 and 50 for Braun’s own entry kit at $100 — while the fourth, the MG7962, publishes no battery figure at all. Thirteen pieces against nine is the difference least worth paying for; bare skin without a second device is the one that is.

What people ask about this

What does 0.1 mm (0.004 in) mean in practice?

It is the shortest setting on the precision head, and it is effectively a shave rather than a trim. It matters because it removes the gap most kits leave between their shortest comb and a razor — the reason people own both a kit and a separate shaver.

Is SkinGuard a safety feature?

Braun describes it as providing maximum safety and comfort in sensitive body areas. It is a manufacturer description of an attachment, quoted here as such. What it does not do is replace the instructions in the manual, which are the authority on where and how each head may be used.

Our score
