Grundig HD 6080 B review

Two thousand two hundred watts with three temperature and two airflow settings plus a cold shot, a ceramic coating stated for even heat, a narrow styling nozzle and a diffuser, on a 1.8 meter (5.9 ft) cable.

Where it leaves us The same control layout as the Remington D3198, with the cable length published, and no amazon.com offer to buy it from.

Two thousand two hundred watts, three temperatures and two airflow speeds on separate settings, plus a cold shot to fix the style. Grundig lists a ceramic coating for even heat and an ionic function for frizz, both as manufacturer claims.

Two attachments are supplied: a narrow styling nozzle for directed work and a diffuser for curl and wave. And the listing publishes something almost nobody else does at this price — the cable is 1.8 m (6 ft), with a hanging loop.

As with the Remington D3198, airflow is not published. And there is no price either: this reference carries no live offer on amazon.com at the time of writing, as with the other three European references on this shelf.

Which leaves this dryer with the thinnest published sheet of the four European references here. Two of them give an air speed — 150 km/h on the Remington AC9140B, 110 km/h on the Philips BHD510 — and this one gives wattage only, as does the other Remington. At 2200 W it ties for the lowest of the four. The 1.8 m (6 ft) cable is the shorter of the two lengths stated anywhere on the shelf; the AC9140B gives three meters. The ceramic coating and the ionic function are both manufacturer claims with no figure attached to either. Without a price, the specification sheet is all there is to compare, and this is the shortest of them.

The good points, and the rest

Strengths

  • Separate temperature and airflow controls, like the Remington D3198, plus a cold shot
  • The cable length is published — 1.8 m (6 ft); of the four European references on this shelf, only the Remington AC9140B also states one (3 m)
  • A diffuser is included, not sold separately

Compromises

  • No airflow figure published, only the wattage
  • No offer on the US market at the time of writing

What people ask about this

Does a ceramic coating change anything?

Grundig states it protects against drying out and distributes heat evenly. It is a manufacturer claim about the grille, reported here as published. What can be compared across dryers is more prosaic: the number of separate settings, whether a cold shot exists, and what attachments are in the box.

Why does cable length appear in the specifications?

Because it decides whether you can stand where the mirror is. Salon dryers run 2.5 to 3 m (8 to 10 ft); a 1.8 m (6 ft) cable is a domestic length. It is a figure almost no manufacturer publishes in this price band, and Grundig does.

Who this one is for, among grooming devices

A second dryer, or a first one, where the price is the point and the diffuser still has to be in the box.
