Braun BG3530 review

Braun's entry body groomer: SkinGuard to keep the blade off the skin, a removable sensitive comb at 1 mm (0.04 in), a body comb at 3 mm (0.12 in), a body stated 100% waterproof, and eighty minutes of runtime.

Where it leaves us The cheapest guarded body groomer here, with the sensitive comb in the box.

SkinGuard, a removable sensitive comb that prevents the blade touching the skin, and two lengths: 1 mm (0.04 in) on the sensitive comb, 3 mm (0.12 in) on the body comb. Braun states the body is 100% waterproof and the battery gives eighty minutes.

This tier trims; it does not shave. There is no foil head here — that arrives on the Series 5 and on the Philips models in this group — and the honest way to read the price is as the difference between those two jobs.

A cleaning brush is included. No charge time is published, so that field is empty. And this is one of the few products on this site with a live offer on all six markets, US included.

Which places this groomer precisely on its shelf: the cheapest of the four at $57, and the only one that does not shave. The Philips BG5480 at $94 adds a foil and a skin guard. The Series 5 adds a replaceable shaving head. The BG7025 adds a foil and a comb that reaches 11 mm (0.43 in). Eighty minutes is also the shortest runtime of the three groomers here that publish one — the other two state a hundred. What $57 buys is a guarded trim at one or three millimeters, in the shower, and nothing past that.

What people ask about this

What does SkinGuard actually do?

Braun describes it as minimizing skin injuries and cuts, for safe trimming even in sensitive areas. It is a manufacturer description of a guard placed between blade and skin. What it does not do is replace the instructions in the manual, which are the authority on where each attachment may be used.

Is a body groomer just a trimmer with different combs?

No — the blade differs. Body groomers use rounded teeth and a guarded head, because they are designed for skin that is not flat. That is why a beard trimmer is not a substitute, whatever comb you fit to it.
