They differ by model and the manual is the only reliable guide — some show a charge level, some show only charging or charged, and some also carry a cleaning reminder.
On this site the clearest example is the Jeetif nose trimmer at $17, whose listing states an HD digital battery percentage on the handle — a reading rather than a light. Five other trimmers on that same shelf carry the field with “Not published” against it, which is the usual state of affairs. Several Philips shavers carry a separate reminder icon for head replacement, which is a different signal entirely.
Confusing the two is common: a light that means “replace the heads” gets read as a battery warning, and a new set of heads then appears not to have fixed anything.
On Philips shavers, the head reminder is cleared by holding the power button for more than seven seconds. The battery indicator is not something you clear.
Where a tool has a single light, it usually means charging or charged and nothing more.
Check your own manual before you follow anything here. Temperatures, water ratings and supply voltages differ from model to model, and the maker’s own figures take precedence over anything written on this site. A supply of the wrong voltage is a failure rather than a slow charge, and the figure is printed on the tool — not inferred from a connector that happens to fit.
