How much battery life does a beard trimmer need?

Far less than the published figures suggest — a trim takes a few minutes, so the charge time matters more than the runtime, and several makers publish only one of the two.

Runtimes on the trimmers here run from 60 minutes to 180. At three minutes a trim, even the shortest is many weeks.

The figure that actually causes trouble is the charge. The Remington MB5000 states two hours for sixty minutes of use — the least generous ratio on this site — while Braun publishes no full charge time on any of its eight products here — only a five-minute quick charge on the 3040s shaver.

Where a machine also runs plugged in, the question largely disappears. The Remington does; check whether yours does before relying on the battery.

Where a maker publishes neither figure, our pages leave both fields empty rather than estimating from another model in the range.
