Remington CI6325 review

A 25 mm (0.98 in) tong with an antistatic ceramic-tourmaline coating, a digital display carrying ten settings from 130 to 220 °C (266 to 428 °F), thirty seconds to heat, worldwide voltage and a cool tip.

Where it leaves us A tong with heat-up, range and voltage all published, and the quicker of the two heat-up times stated on this shelf.

Twenty-five millimeters, an antistatic ceramic-tourmaline coating, and a digital display carrying ten settings from 130 to 220 °C (266 to 428 °F). Thirty seconds to heat, and an automatic shut-off after an hour.

The specification that earns this its place over the BaByliss is the documentation. Heat-up time, temperature range, shut-off delay and voltage are all published — four figures where the cheaper tong gives one.

Worldwide voltage adjustment means a plug adapter is enough to use it abroad. And as with half this shelf, there is no live offer on amazon.com at the time of writing — four of the eight curling tools here publish a price.

Where this tong sits on the shelf is a question of documentation rather than heat. Four figures are published: the range, the heat-up, the shut-off delay and the voltage. The BaByliss gives one of those four, and the Philips automatic publishes no temperature in degrees at all. Thirty seconds is the quicker of the two heat-up times stated anywhere here; the five-head Remington takes forty. On temperature it is not the ceiling — the 24K Gold waver reaches 450 °F against this tong’s 428. What it lacks is a listing: of the eight curling tools published here, the four carrying a price are all American references, from $25 to $135, and all four European tongs have nothing on amazon.com. The BaByliss C325E, Remington CI41MS5, Grundig HS 6230 and Philips BHB876 share the curling tools shelf, and how to charge before a trip covers travel.

The good points, and the rest

Strengths

  • Both the heat-up time and the full temperature range are published
  • Worldwide voltage, which means it works abroad with a plug adapter alone
  • A digital display shows the setting rather than a position on a dial
  • Thirty seconds to heat, the fastest published in this family

Compromises

  • A clamp tong, so it leaves a crease where it grips
  • No glove or heat mat supplied

What people ask about this

What does worldwide voltage mean in practice?

That the tool itself accepts the line voltage of most countries, so a plug adapter — which only changes the shape of the pins — is enough. A tool that states a single voltage needs a converter, which is a different and heavier device. It is printed in small type on the body of the tool.

Is 220 °C (428 °F) usable on any hair?

That is not a question this page answers. Remington publishes a range of 130 to 220 °C (266 to 428 °F) across ten settings, and the manual that comes with the tool carries the guidance. What matters at the point of buying is that both ends of the range exist and can be selected.
