The bottom line The clipper for someone who wants to blend rather than buzz: the wheel does what a bag of guards cannot.
The zoom wheel is the whole product. Twenty-eight lengths from 0.5 to 28 mm, selected by turning a ring, without stopping to change a comb. Philips publishes up to 90 minutes of runtime, corded or cordless, plus a turbo mode.
The second specification worth reading is the comb design, which Philips says stops cut hair collecting inside the guard — the reason a second pass over the same area sometimes takes off more than the first. And the listing describes the clipper as completely washable, which is the detail that decides whether a machine is still used in three years or has gone into a drawer full of hair.
Three combs come in the box, against ten on the Remington in this lot. On a machine built around a wheel that is less of a gap than it looks, but it is worth knowing before comparing prices.

It is different. A wheel changes length in a fraction of a second and lets you blend between two lengths on the same pass; a guard is a fixed distance you can feel against the head. Barbers use both.
