Grundig

Two products: a hair dryer that publishes its cord length, and a cordless curler

Grundig appears twice on this site, and both entries earn their place on one specific figure.

What we found writing the reviews

The hair dryer publishes its cord length. The Grundig HD6080 states 1.8 m (5.9 ft) with a hanging loop, and splits heat and speed across two controls. The Remington AC9140B also publishes its cord, 3 m (9.8 ft), salon length. It decides whether you can stand where the mirror is.

The curler runs without a cord. The Grundig HS 6230 runs on a battery for up to forty minutes, with three named temperatures (160, 180, 200 °C — 320, 356, 392 °F), a three-to-fifteen-second timer and a selectable rotation direction, all on a display. Do corded tools have advantages? weighs the two.

A timer makes a curl repeatable. That is the practical case for an automatic curler over a wand: the section is held for a set number of seconds, not for as long as your attention lasts. The Philips BHB876 is the other European automatic curler here.

One gap. No charging time is published against the curler’s forty minutes of runtime.

Both tools are compared in the hair dryers and curling irons and wands categories.

Every Grundig product we have reviewed

  • Grundig HD 6080 B

    2200 W · 3 heat + 2 speed · cold shot · 1.8 m (6 ft) cable · ceramic

Two thousand two hundred watts with three temperature and two airflow settings plus a cold shot, a ceramic coating stated for even heat, a narrow styling nozzle and a diffuser, on a 1.8 meter (5.9 ft) cable.

Best for: A second dryer, or a first one, where the price is the point and the diffuser still has to be in the box.

  • Grundig HS 6230

    Automatic · cordless, 40 min · 3 temps 160/180/200 °C · timer 3–15 s

An automatic curler that wraps the section itself, and the only cordless one in this group: battery powered for up to forty minutes, with three temperatures, a three-to-fifteen-second timer and a choice of rotation direction.

Best for: Curling away from a socket, or curling the same way twice.
